Firehouse 5K Run/Walk

We had the Firehouse 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, and it was nasty outside. Great determination for those that made it and decided to participate. I know getting out in the cold is enough for some people to stay indoors, but if you're like me, it's the running that would have kept me in. We had a great turnout for the race, and as I figured, no one had it in them to beat me. I was worried about some though, and you guys pushed me to run hard too. Thank you again for all the families that do everything possible to make our school great. Without you guys, we couldn't do what we do. Remember that we're closed Friday and Saturday. Everyone have a great holiday weekend, and remember that the tournament in West Salem is right around the corner on April 30.

Verona Tournament April 3rd

We had an impressive showing in Verona this weekend from our students. 25 competitors from H+H Karate, and we couldn't have asked for a better group. Everyone did an awesome job, and I thank all that participated. Special congratulations to Mr. Owen for making it to the Grand Championship at his first tournament as a black belt. Again thank you to all of the competitors and families that come to support Team Hickok. There are a couple options left for the tournament season. On April 30th, there is a tournament in West Salem. This will be a much smaller tournament, and obviously a shorter drive as well. My recommendation for newer tournament competitors that just want to try competing is this one. Or, on May 1st, we have the NCKA Finals which ends the season. This is in the cities, but will give students a much broader understanding of competing. This tournament is much larger, and students will get to see a higher level of competition. Please feel free to ask any questions by commenting on here or talking to us in the studio. And don't forget about the run/walk on April 16th. I welcome all challengers!

Family Fun Fair Karate Demo

The demonstration yesterday was awesome! Everyone had good things to say about it, and quite a few people sounded interested. It was really cool to see the seats empty before we went on stage, and then they filled up immediately after we started. We may have some new one's starting, and it's all because of the hard work of you guys as well. We couldn't do this without all of our supporting families, and we want you to know that we really appreciate what you guys do for us. Thank you to you, and especially thank you to those of you that came to support us at the Omni Center yesterday. Thank you to the kids for being part of the demo team as well. You guys rock!!! Remember to get your H+H Karate apparel by Thursday! I'm getting one of everything!
